- Configure the DIR-819 first while it’s standalone (PC → DIR-819 LAN port, hit 192.168.0.1).
- Set its LAN IP static, inside the Bell subnet but outside the Giga Hub’s DHCP pool. Bell defaults to gateway 192.168.2.1, so e.g. 192.168.2.2 — verify the pool first in the Giga Hub UI.
- Disable the DHCP server on the DIR-819. This is the critical step — two DHCP servers on one L2 domain will fight.
- Cable: Giga Hub LAN port → DIR-819 LAN port (yellow “INTERNET”/WAN port stays empty). This bypasses the DIR-819’s routing/NAT entirely.
- Set the wifi. Same SSID + same password + same security type as the Giga Hub = seamless-ish roaming (it’s plain re-association; the DIR-819 has no 802.11r, so expect a brief blip on handoff, not a true fast roam). Different SSID if you’d rather steer devices manually. Fix channels manually to avoid the two radios stomping each other (e.g. Bell on ch1, DIR on ch6 for 2.4; pick non-overlapping 5 GHz).
- Reach the DIR-819 admin afterward at its new static 192.168.2.2.
